Making Data Work for You: The Art of Using SAS to Clean and Manage Your Data Webinar
March 29th, 11am-12pm Eastern
Description: Managing data can be one of the hardest parts of research and evaluation, particularly for new researchers, as data can be messy and not automatically ready for analysis. SAS is one tool that can be used to manage large data sets. In this webinar the presenter will provide an introduction to using SAS to clean and manage your data. Topics that will be covered include: Importing your data into SAS, managing your data in SAS through a data step, viewing your data before and after your data step to evaluate your variable and decide what you need from what you have. Sample codes will be included in the presentation to allow viewers to practice editing and coding in SAS, given you have access to SAS or to keep in the event you have access to SAS in the future.
Speaker: Jacqueline Seals, M.P.H. is the data analyst for the Kentucky Violent Death Reporting System. Jacqueline is responsible for cleaning data for data requests and assisting with data analysis for projects. Through Jacqueline’s position, she assists with the data management and cleaning for Master’s and Doctoral level students’ thesis projects, at the University of Kentucky’s College of Public Health. Jacqueline has received a B.S. in Health Sciences from Truman State University, M.P.H. in Epidemiology from the University of Kentucky, and is currently working on her DrPH in Epidemiology from the University of Kentucky.
